None of those things relate to work performance, other than to make the job hell for no reason other than some puritanical virtue signaling on behalf of the ownership. Or have a cell phone on their person, even for emergencies. Or leave the store for any reason, even while on break. They are about not being allowed to sit down during a ten hour shift, even while on break. None of the complaints are about being "worked hard". GregInIndy: sherkaner: You'll never get hired at Bucee's with that work ethic.īTW: if they ever actually are denying people any state-mandated meal or rest breaks that is highly actionable and I recommend immediately reporting it to state employment regulators. And if you don't cut it? You're not excellent? You're out, and they try again with someone else. Pretty killer unskilled wages, but only if you're a really great employee and you'll definitely work hard the entire time. Sounds awful.įWIW, In & Out Burger in the southwest is much the same way in the fast food industry. The rest? Golly, they hold you to strict policies and you work hard the whole time while paying you well above the going average in the area. I'm sure this means something.īTW: if they ever actually are denying people any state-mandated meal or rest breaks that is highly actionable and I recommend immediately reporting it to state employment regulators. Gosh, there's some bad former-employee reviews online. Sherkaner: You'll never get hired at Bucee's with that work ethic. ![]() Hope that isn't too much trouble for you. Second one needs to be copy pasted, the formatter won't auto-link it. You'll never get hired at Bucee's with that work ethic. It simply isn't on me to prove your points for you. Have you looked into how they treat their employees for yourself, or are you just basing this comment on the pay alone? They have a pretty draconian definition of "performance". I don't think I have any problems with that. They pay far above the average, and they expect far above-average job performance. They have to pay that much to offset their massive turnover rates, very few people are willing to be treated that harshly long enough to work their way up. ![]() I encourage you to look into the labor requirements of a typical Bucee's employee. In 1972 it was renamed the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to better reflect its status as a partnership between the two states. With the Port Authority at a distance from political pressures, it was able to carry longer-term infrastructure projects irrespective of the election cycles and in a more efficient manner. The idea for the Port Authority was conceived during the Progressive Era, which aimed at the reduction of political corruption and at increasing the efficiency of government. This was the first such agency in the United States, created under a provision in the Constitution of the United States permitting interstate compacts. The Port of New York Authority was established on April 30, 1921, through an interstate compact between the states of New Jersey and New York. ![]() The Harbor Development Commission, a joint advisory board set-up in 1917, recommended that a bi-state authority be established to oversee efficient economic development of the port district. In 1916, New Jersey launched a lawsuit against New York over issues of rail freight, with the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) issuing an order that the two states work together, subordinating their own interests to the public interest. ![]() Freight had to be shipped across the Hudson River in barges. At the time, rail lines terminated on the New Jersey side of the harbor, while ocean shipping was centered on Manhattan and Brooklyn. In the early years of the 20th century, there were disputes between the states of New Jersey and New York over rail freights and boundaries. Early bond issues were tied to specific projects, but this changed in 1935 when the Authority issued General and Refunding bonds with a claim on its general revenues. It became one of the major agencies of the metropolitan area for large-scale projects. By issuing its own bonds, it was financially independent of either state the bonds were paid off from tolls and fees, not from taxes. The solution was the 1921 creation of the Port Authority under the supervision of the governors of the two states. The congestion at the port led experts to realize the need for a port authority to supervise the extremely complex system of bridges, highways, subways, and port facilities in the New York-New Jersey area. troops and supplies sent to Europe during World War I, via the New York Port of Embarkation. One of the concerns Sam Wilson would face would be the lack of brute force. He'd have to win support and trust of people, as well as the authorities to bring some change to the world and end the pestilential prejudice based on race and color in the world. So, Sam would have to find his own political principles and try to bring both factions to a common point. Since Bradley explicitly said how disrespectful to the community it will be if a Black person was to become Captain America, Sam would not necessarily be a hero to his own people who share this same belief as Bradley. He believes that this is a new world and that amends can be made to the past mistakes. While one hand, Sam has to fight the white supremacy, he also has to fight the growing hatred amongst his people to help achieve peace. Isaiah Bradley told him that no self-respecting Black man would ever become Captain America. He'd have to convince the world to bring a change in their outdated ideology, and would have to fight the divided politics across the globe that has come in this new world order. But, for Sam and his people, that definition would be different. ![]() Steve Rogers served his nation with pride and selflessness, and tried to abide by what's right. But, doesn't mean that Sam has totally given into Captain America's mantle and the principles associated with it. He trains his body and his mind, gaining control over shield's use in combat, and by the end, readies himself to wear his new colors and head into battle against the Flag Smashers. ![]() He followed in Steve's ideas of just having faith in your own good even if the entire world is deprived of it. He decided to prove his worth rather than giving up on his duty. We witnessed in the previous episode that Sam took this on as a challenge. On top of that, upon hearing the story of Isaiah Bradley, Sam has come to know how the horrifying treatment of his people at the hands of white-supremacist American ideals and their advocates. That even led authorities to strip him off Cap's mantle, which was given to him by Rogers himself. Even after returning to life after events of Avengers: Endgame, Sam faces family troubles, financial losses, and a complete disregard towards his deeds as an Avenger due to racial prejudices. Sam Wilson's character arc has gone into a different direction from being a lawful Avenger since Captain America: Civil War.
